Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) Grants

CYANOACTION encourages and supports researchers and innovators to visit a host organization located in a country different from the country of their affiliation to perform specific scientific work during a determined period of time.

The aim of the grant is to support capacity building and transfer of knowledge through bilateral/multilateral collaborations as well as support topics that can help achieve the Action MoU objectives and deliverables. Additional aim is to support the grantee to implement a research project with an international team and gain new knowledge or access to equipment or techniques not available in the home institution as well as the opportunity to develop a long lasting collaboration.

The grant is a fixed financial contribution to the grantee’s overall travel, accommodation, and subsistence expenses, implementation of the project, delivery of the report to the COST Action MC and overall effort.

Note that: STSM grantees should make their arrangements for all provisions related to personal security, health, taxation, social security and pension matters. The COST Association and the Grant Holder of the Action cannot be considered as being an STSM grantee’s employer, i.e., the STSM Grant cannot be considered as a salary. 

The STSM needs to be carried out in its entirety within a single Grant Period and always within the Action’s lifetime. 

Applications are submitted via e-COST (applicants must have or create an e-COST profile).

Grantees with approved applications will receive a Grant Letter from the Grant Holder.
